Here at Infinitie we believe that the vast majority of users basically have good intentions and that everyone has something to contribute to the community. This sadly is not the case in all instances, and we wanted to share with you today the role of our Trust & Safety Department, and what we do 24/7 to ensure that our network is running smoothly and how we monitor for unwanted and problematic users on our site.
We feel it is important to highlight these important initiatives so our members can see exactly what it is we do here to maintain a high quality, highly available network that our members can depend on, a lot of companies out there do not take the time and effort into securing their networks which lead to future problems and downtime down the road. By strengthening our “core” we are able to provide better quality of service to the people that matter the most. Our Members.
What is “The Core”? Before I go into our recent Trust & Safety initiatives, I want to explain exactly what our definition of “Core” is. We started using this term recently to define the key parts of our network operations and our key platform components.
In short, our core basically consists of a few key parts of our network:
1) Our DNS infrastructure
2) Our Shared Servers
3) Our Infinitie Networks Corporate Sites
4) Our routers, switches and other mainframe networking infrastructure.
5) Our IP base
Now these numbers are not really in order of priority, but this is what our “Core” is, in a nutshell. Although, in my opinion I would consider our “Core” to be our Corporate Site, DNS infrastructure and the vast majority of our Shared Servers. That being said. Let’s move on to Trust & Safety.
Keeping our Network Secure
Since we first started hosting the community way back in 2000 a lot has changed. User behaviors have changed and Online Fraud, Phishing, SPAM and Identity theft occurances have increased. To combat these problems we have taken a lot of extra steps in our processes to ensure that our “well intentioned” members are able to prosper on our network, while our problematic users are suspended or otherwised banned from the site.
Over the past year we have implemented a few new policies which have in effect ensured the Safety and Integrity of our Community. Here are a few policies we introduced and how it has helped the Community.
1) Our Fraud Verification System (At Account Signup) -
About 90 days ago we introduced our Fraud Call system which reviews registration details submitted by our users, takes all the information which calculates the likelyhood of it being a fraud order. If the resulting score is too high, it will automatically call the customer to have them verify that their information is valid and correct, as well as take a digital voice signature for review by our Trust & Safety Team.
By doing the above, we have cut our Fraud signups by over 70%. In effect this has enabled us to shift our focuses elsewhere and deal with more important matters. This feature also cuts off most Fraud problems at the source, which in turn saves future problems such as the member creating phishing sites, warez sites, etc.
2) Pro actively Monitoring our network for key policy violations
Our Trust & Safety team is an elite team that is dedicated to handled serious issues, such as policy violations, warnings, restrictions, suspensions as well as dealing with Law Enforcement and other ISP’s to ensure the security of our Community as a whole, through our monitoring tools and the reports of our users through our reporting tools. We are able to create a safer enviroment for our members.
To be brief and without going into full details about what Trust & Safety does behind the scenes, I just thought I would highlight some of the things we do behind the scenes to ensure the safety of our members.
Members can rest assured as long as they play by the Rules and abide by our User Agreement, they will have a fun and rewarding time here at Infinitie.
